There is an old saying that "No man is an island". Do you know what this means? It means that although we are all individuals - we are rarely totally alone. We live in families and communities. We go to schools and clubs - and everything that we do can affect the people around us. We are like cogs in a machine. As we move and change we make others move and change with us.

  1. Draw yourself in the central cog.
  2. Draw and label the people that you live with, meet or work with every day in the cogs around you.
  3. Can you imagine how these people would be affected or feel if you were caught shoplifting?

Jot down your answers and discuss them with your group/friends or with your teacher/parent.
